Quick guide
Keyboard shortcuts
Outwin is built to keep you in flow. The one key to remember is / — press it anywhere on the canvas and a command menu opens right where you're typing. Text, headings, lists, code, link cards, images and 1,100+ cloud and brand icons are all a few keystrokes away. Here's the full map.
On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl wherever you see ⌘. Outwin runs entirely in your browser, offline-friendly, and is tuned for a desktop and a real keyboard.
The command menu
One menu adds everything. Press / to open it, type a few letters to filter, then Enter or Tab to drop the block in. The slashes below jump straight to a pre-filtered icon picker.
The essentials
Tools
Single-key tool switches. They're swallowed while you're typing, so they never fire mid-sentence.
Editing
Arrange & group
Navigate the canvas
The canvas is infinite. Zoom and pan are gesture-first, so a mouse or trackpad gets you anywhere fast.
Selecting & moving
Arrows & connections
Arrows snap to the nearest edge and re-route as you move things. Two shapes, both from one key.
Export & share
An exported board is one self-contained HTML file an AI can read — drop it into Claude or ChatGPT and it understands the structure. PNG lives in the right-click menu.
Tips that earn their keep
Branch ideas with ghost pills
Hover any box and four faint pills appear, one per side. Click one to spin off a new node — already wired up with an arrow — and keep growing the workflow without reaching for a tool.
Smart auto-layout tidies the mess
Outwin nudges overlapping components apart on the nearest free side, so a fast brain-dump settles into a readable diagram instead of a pile.
Paste a URL → instant link card
Copy any link and paste it onto the canvas with ⌘+V. A bare URL becomes a compact link card (embeddable ones go live), no dialog in the way.
Paste or drag images right in
Screenshots and image files drop straight onto the board — paste with ⌘+V at the cursor, or drag a file from your desktop.
Now go fast.
You only really need one key to start. Open the canvas, press /, and build.
